About the event
Join this 6 week journey into the world of unrehearsed, spontaneous singing, collective listening, and the creation of soulful community through improvised vocal music. We create a healing space where you can let go of “getting it right” and ride the river of sound that moves through your body in the present moment. This experiential class will bring you break you out of performance anxiety, self-judgement and hesitation into your fully alive singing soul and cells!
We’ll explore the skill set of the improviser: deep listening, flowing with change, following and trusting intuition, courageous spontaneity, fluid awareness of body, breath, self and others. We’ll also strengthen our abilities as musical composers: constructing melodies, harmony, vocal percussion, bass lines. We will weave some simple improvisational forms, with totally free play. We’ll also dedicate time in each class for a sound healing circle and a prayer song blessing for the earth.
If you like to sing, chant or tone and want to experience the joy of spontaneous creative vocal flow, this class is for you—even if you don’t identify as a singer.
Improvisational experiments will be inspired by Rhiannon’s Vocal River structures, circle singing and David Hatfield’s Soul Singing work.
All levels are welcome.
